Brick Lane Curry Festival

September 2010

Bangla Town Restaurant Association was established in 1999 with restaurants based in and around Brick Lane (know as Bangla Town) in London with the aim of supporting and developing their businesses.

BTRA is not only seen as suppliers of services to its members but intends to lobby on their behalf locally and nationally for their best interests.

Every year on the 2nd Sunday in September BTRA organize 'The International Curry Festival' One of the greatest events of London. The prominent Bangla Town Curry Festival has become one of the most loved and enjoyed events by people all over the UK as the streets are filled with curry stalls, competitions and the exotic aroma of the true Bangladeshi Cuisine.

The Bangla Town Curry Festival has gained huge interest by media from across Europe and is one of the most talked about and remembered festive events to take place in Bangla Town.

East London has welcomed waves of immigrants for over 2000 years, who then have gone onto become prosperous Londoners through hard work and enterprise, making the area England's Ellis Island. Today, Brick Lane is famous for the Sunday Market, numerous Anglo-Asian 'curry houses' and the burgeoning art and fashion scene clustered around the Old Truman Brewery and its environs.
